Newmarket Sausage PGI 2012
Newmarket sausages are a bit special. Made to a very old recipe and with ingredients that have almost as much herritage as the sausages themselves. One maker “Musk” have been making them the same way since 1884 and have had a special place on the Royal familes breakfast table for almost 90 years.
Most sausages including Newmarket ones have rusk, which is a dry product but Musks Newmarket sausage use bread from local bakers to retain moisture. Other suplliers are Powters I still maintain my brother (I have to include this or he’ll never speak to me again) makes some of the best sausages in Britain however these Newmarket bangers are equally delicious. Toad in the hole or with mash and onion gravy and of course in a full English breakfast.
